COMPLEX NEEDS

COMPLEX BEHAVIOUR

Challenging behaviour comes in many forms, and it affects not only the person experiencing it, but also those around them. Having the support in place to help communicate, understand, and manage such behaviour can make a huge difference.

Complex care is specialist care provided to individuals with profound health or social care needs, to enhance their quality of life and maximise their potential. Supporting people with complex care needs can be a challenging experience for families and carers alike, that is why you need compassionate carers trained to meet your needs.

At Green Pastures Care, we believe that patients with complex health and social care needs should be cared for in a safe and comfortable environment where they can live life the way they choose to. We support people with a range of needs, both cognitive and physical, including those with profound learning disability, autistic spectrum disorders, sensory impairment and those who have experienced a brain injury or who may suffer from any other neurological condition, such as motor neurone disease, cerebral palsy or other neurological condition. And because we all know there’s no place like home, our focus is on delivering the required care in the service user’s home environment.

OUR APPROACH TO COMPLEX NEEDS

Green Pastures Care has a team of highly skilled care staff who are compassionate, dedicated and caring. We know that every individual deserves to live life their way. We offer personalised and comprehensive care for adults with learning disability and autism spectrum disorder who display complex challenging behaviour. Our philosophy of care leads to an approach that is compassionate, holistic, reliable and person-centred.

Our highly trained complex care team looks after adults with challenging behaviour due to severe learning disability and autism spectrum disorder. We offer one to one support or two to one support according to complexity of need.  The ability to communicate and
place at ease the service user with learning disability is the key skill we train our support workers to attain. Research shows that people with profound learning disability can discriminate between familiar carers and those who are strangers, and are able to form personal relationships.   That is why we ensure that each service user has a key worker that they bond with in order to formulate that trust in the relationship and they are able to respond positively to their key worker.

How we ensure safety for service users and staff in  complex behaviour care

We take a proactive, responsive and consistent approach to working with our service users recognising the benefit to the service user and other involved parties, in putting together a comprehensive service focused on:

  • early intervention;
  • establishing relationships and clear lines of communication;
  • managing risk;
  • setting clear goals.

We recognise just how important it is to have the support that suits each service user. That’s why we take a holistic approach to care; working with our service user, their families, and all parties involved to reach the best outcome for the service user.
